Kayla’s Children Centre (KCC) is a multidisciplinary centre supporting children and young people from 6 weeks to 21 years old, including children with disabilities, developmental differences, and complex medical needs.

KCC brings together education, childcare, pediatric therapy, recreation, respite, adapted sports, life skills programs, hydrotherapy, and summer camps in one supportive environment. Programs are designed to help children develop skills, reach individual milestones, build confidence, and participate fully in their communities while providing families with valuable support and respite.

Specialized Daycare & Early Intervention

KCC’s Therapeutic Daycare provides a nurturing environment where young children can begin their educational journey while receiving individualized developmental support. Early intervention can help children build important skills in areas such as communication, feeding, social development, motor skills, and independence.

With a low staff-to-child ratio and therapeutic services incorporated into the daily program, children receive support tailored to their individual needs while learning and interacting with their peers.

Pediatric Therapy Clinic

The on-site therapy clinic provides multidisciplinary pediatric services and is open to families in the wider community. KCC’s team works with children to understand their individual strengths, challenges, and developmental needs before creating personalized goals and care plans.

Therapy services can include:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Early intervention
  • Pediatric developmental support

Having multiple services available through one child-focused centre can make it easier for families to coordinate care and access the support their child needs.

Specialized School & Education

Kayla’s Children Centre also provides specialized educational programming for children with developmental and learning disabilities. The Jewish Day School combines individualized education with therapeutic interventions to support each student’s academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth.

Educational programming is designed around the individual child, helping students develop academic skills while also working toward greater independence and confidence.

Accessible Recreation & Hydrotherapy

KCC provides opportunities for children with disabilities to participate in recreation and physical activities in an accessible environment. The Mayim Aquatic Centre & Elkie Adler Hydrotherapy Pool provides a specialized setting for accessible aquatic therapy and recreation.

Hydrotherapy can form part of a child’s individualized therapeutic program while also providing an enjoyable way for children to move, exercise, and build confidence in the water.

Camps for Children With Disabilities

Looking for inclusive summer camps for children with disabilities in the Toronto area? KCC offers specialized camp experiences designed to accommodate children with a wide range of abilities and support needs.

Camp18 Day Camp combines fun summer activities with individualized support and therapeutic goals. Experienced staff create a safe, encouraging environment where campers can try new activities, build skills, develop confidence, socialize with other children, and celebrate personal milestones.

A high staff-to-camper ratio allows the camp team to provide individualized attention while ensuring children feel supported, challenged, and included throughout the day.

KCC is also home to Camp Lionheart, a specialized overnight camp designed specifically for children with disabilities in Muskoka, providing an opportunity for campers to experience the excitement of an overnight summer camp in an environment created around their needs.

Respite, Life Skills & Family Support

KCC recognizes that supporting a child with disabilities can be demanding for the entire family. Alongside educational and therapeutic programs, the centre offers overnight and weekend respite, giving families valuable opportunities to rest while their children receive specialized care and support.

Programs for older youth can also focus on life skills, independence, recreation, social development, and preparation for adulthood, helping young people build practical skills and confidence for the future.

Kayla’s Children Centre welcomes children and families from diverse backgrounds and provides a supportive environment enriched by Jewish education and tradition.
