Ontario Pioneer Camp
InterVarsity’s Ontario Pioneer Camp has been welcoming campers for more than 90 years, giving generations of children and youth the opportunity to make friends, discover new interests, build confidence, and experience the excitement of camp life.
Located on an impressive 1,200-acre property in Muskoka, Ontario, Pioneer Camp is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and offers plenty of space for adventure, exploration, and outdoor activities. With a friendly staff team and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a place where campers can step outside their comfort zone, try something new, and create memories that last long after summer ends.
Summer Camp Adventures
Every summer brings a new collection of experiences for campers to enjoy. From trying different activities and learning practical skills to spending time with friends and embracing the great outdoors, Pioneer Camp encourages children to become more independent while discovering what they’re capable of.
For many families, the changes they see in their children after camp are one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. Campers return home with new stories to tell, new skills to share, and often a greater sense of confidence and independence.
Pioneer Camp’s programs are designed to support the whole child, with opportunities for personal development alongside recreation, friendship, and Christian faith.
A Christian Camp Experience
Faith is an important part of life at Pioneer Camp. As a Christian summer camp operated by InterVarsity, the program incorporates Biblical teaching, Christian values, worship, and opportunities to explore faith into the camp experience.
The camp’s approach is centred on treating every person with dignity, kindness, and respect while encouraging children and youth to grow spiritually, socially, mentally, and physically.
1,200 Acres of Muskoka Adventure
The setting itself is a huge part of the Pioneer Camp experience. With 1,200 acres of Muskoka wilderness, campers have an incredible natural environment to explore and enjoy.
The property provides a true escape from everyday routines, giving children the chance to spend meaningful time outdoors, take on new challenges, and enjoy the freedom and excitement that comes with traditional summer camp.
Pioneer Camp also welcomes schools, churches, youth groups, families, and other organizations throughout the rest of the year.
School Trips & Group Retreats
When summer is over, Pioneer Camp transforms into a destination for school trips, outdoor education, youth retreats, family gatherings, church groups, and other group events.
The facility can accommodate both day and overnight groups of up to 200 people, with facilities, meals, activities, and accommodation available to make organizing a group experience easier.
Whether you’re planning a school adventure, church retreat, family reunion, or weekend getaway, Pioneer Camp provides a scenic setting where groups can spend quality time together and enjoy a change of pace.
Year-Round Events
Pioneer Camp continues welcoming guests from September through June, with a variety of events and retreats beyond the traditional summer camp season.
Families can enjoy special weekends and reunions, while youth can take part in events such as Radiate Youth Retreats, designed to bring young people together for connection, faith, friendship, and memorable experiences.
Why Families Choose Pioneer Camp
With decades of experience, a spectacular Muskoka location, dedicated staff, and a wide range of programs, Ontario Pioneer Camp offers much more than a typical summer getaway. It gives children the opportunity to make lifelong friends, learn new skills, experience adventure, grow in confidence, spend time in nature, and explore their faith.
